Accessible, professionally managed portfolios
The mutual funds approach provides clients with an opportunity to participate in a professionally managed portfolio not easily constructed with a smaller asset commitment. The Funds are managed in the same manner as the individual segregated accounts, although pooled with other investor assets to maximize diversification while achieving low cost base. The Funds are a great opportunity to leverage smaller accounts to achieve an asset size that can be managed more efficiently and effectively by LDIC, assuring that even small investors get greater results.
The mutual funds are beneficial to the client for various reasons. The funds are 100% RRSP eligible, the minimum investment is $5,000, and the price of Funds is reported daily in the Globe & Mail and Financial Post. For those of you who would like a stream of income, the Redwood Diversified Income Fund pays a 6 cents per unit monthly distribution. We believe the potential performance of the smaller accounts would benefit by being managed as part of the Funds for the following reasons:
• Greater diversification is possible within a pooled fund;
• Possibility of lower entry price and better exit prices;
• Cost base at a lower cost base.
The Funds are a great option for those clients who do not meet our minimum portfolio asset size. Greater diversification is possible within a pooled fund and a cost effective way to purchase and sell securities. As described in the simplified prospectuses of the Funds, clients may consider the investment strategies of the Redwood Diversified Income, the Redwood Diversified Equity and/or the Redwood Global Small Cap Fund.
These mutual funds contain many of the same securities the Firm includes in its segregated accounts. The individual’s specific investment objectives may be met through a combination of investments selected by the manager’s basket of securities.
